Howard D Mellott Sr., 89, of Ambridge, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at Heritage Valley Sewickley.
Born February 5, 1923, in Sipes Mill, PA, he was the son of the late Foster G. and Edna Doyle Mellott. Howard was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a volunteer at the Sisters of St. Joseph Mother House and retired from LTV Steel after 35 years as a maintenance foreman. Howard was a WWII veteran, having served in the US Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Burnell Mellott, and a sister, Dorothy Chester.
He is survived by a son, Howard D Mellott Jr. and his wife Carol Deverell, Mercer; a grandson, Bryan Howard Mellott and Michelle Pratz, Mercer; a sister, Mary Lou Wilson, Harlansburg, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Dorothy Mellott, Free Union, VA, also many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 12 noon until time of prayer at 3 p.m. in the GABAUER-MATTER FUNERAL HOME, 1133 Church St., Ambridge, PA 15003, www.gabauermatterfuneralhome.com.
Private interment will be in Clermont Cemetery.
